The survey is anonymous and complies with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct. The Market Research Society (MRS) is the UK professional body for research, insight, and analytics.
The survey does not collect personal information or any data that may identify an individual student. The survey only collects responses to the questions asked regarding smoking (including vaping), drinking and drug use. Ipsos will store responses securely and keep them confidential.

The survey is conducted to fulfill NHS England's legal functions under the NHS Act 2006 to conduct, commission, or assist research into matters related to illness and other health services.
Ipsos takes its information security responsibilities seriously and applies various precautions to ensure information is protected from loss, theft, or misuse. Security precautions included appropriate physical security of offices and controlled and limited access to computer systems. Stringent measures have been taken to ensure personal information is securely stored and seen only by the personnel directly involved in the project.
Ipsos has regular internal and external audits of its information security controls and working practices and is accredited to the International Standard for Information Security, ISO 27001. Ipsos, and approved NHS England staff and researchers, treat individual answers as confidential. They adhere to all aspects and terms of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and all other relevant legislation, including requirements for secure storage.
